Conor McGregor has delivered his verdict on Dana White's decision not to re-sign Muhammad Mokaev to the UFC.
The Dagestani-British fighter's contract with the UFC expired following his unanimous decision victory against rival Manel Kape last weekend at UFC 304.
Mokaev, who hails from Wigan, extended his record to 7-0 in the UFC,with the flyweight having previously bested Alex Perez in March.
UFC bosses had also been left unimpressed after he had allegedly 'sucker-punched' Kape at their hotel, prior to their bad-blooded meeting at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester.
Unsavoury scenes broke out in what appeared to be the lobby of the hotel, with both fighter's teams engaging in a brawl. He had also insisted after the fight that some supporters were not fans of his fighting style.
'You know this was important to me. Five days before my Alex Perez fight,I met with Manel [Kape]. He head-butted me. If you watch my Alex Perez fight,I went to fight with [a] cut, with eight stitches. They stitched up my eyebrow,' Mokaev said in his press conference.
McGregor wrote on Instagram in response to White's comments about Mokaev: 'They can have him'
However, former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor has come out in support of White's decision not to re-sign Mokaev, following the conclusion of his contract.
A video of White's comments was posted on Instagram, with the Irishman replying to the video, writing: 'They can have him.'
Despite that,Mokaev has insisted that it is his 'dream' to become a UFC champion, issuing his intent to continue fighting in the organisation.
He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): 'My dream is to become UFC Champion.
'I turn them all down because UFC gave me the platform to put my name out there and earn money to feed my family! Btw PFL don’t have flyweight division. All these journalists that make this s*** up are idiots! I hope Dana resigns me,this is my dream to become champion!'
